Ireland may be a democracy but when we want to have our say, we generally turn to Joe Duffy instead of Enda Kenny.
Whether it’s the cancellation of Garth Brooks’ run at Croker or the political scandal of the day, the first port of call for many to express their outrage is a quick call to Liveline and as a result, the show has become an Irish institution.
Unfortunately, today the unthinkable happened and the phone lines went down during the RTÉ Radio One show, forcing Joe to turn to another Irish institution to save the day.
Apologies to @Liveline_RTE listeners today for the technical issue we have been experiencing with phone lines

With no calls coming through, the veteran presenter decided to pop on Runaway by The Corrs while “over 50 people” worked to repair the line.
The station has since apologised for the landmark technical failure so fingers crossed that normal service will resume tomorrow! Here’s what Twitter had to say…
The #liveline crisis of 2015, this’ ll deffo make Reeling in the Years.
