The Twitter Change We’ve All Been Waiting For Is Finally Here

Freedom is ours.

Twitter has finally responded to one of its users’ biggest annoyances and made a BIG change for the better.

The social media site has officially done away with its 140 character limit in direct messages meaning we can DM to our hearts’ content with no annoying (contd) at the end of every message.

The new limit, which was announced back in June, is a whopping 10,000 words meaning we are basically free to ramble away.

The change is being rolled out across Android, iOS and web-based platforms and will be phased in gradually over the next few weeks – so don’t panic if you haven’t seen the change yet.

Twitter wrote in a blog post: “You can now chat on (and on) in a single direct message, and likely still have some characters left over.”

They did note that character limits for tweets will remain at the concise 140 character limit.

The change comes amid reports that Twitter’s user growth has been slow of late as well as news of management upheaval and concern about the site’s longevity.
