What impact does your bikini line have on your sex life? Well, a hell of a lot more than you may have originally thought. A new study has revealed that the state of your bikini line can actually affect your sexual antics on a major level.
We live in an age of waxing, vajazzling and going bare down there, so researchers decided to try and find out the relation between our bikini lines and our sex lives (they’re handy like that, don’t you know).
Sexuality researcher, Debra Herbenick, wanted to find out how women deal with their bikini lines on a daily basis so herself and her team asked 2,453 women between the ages of 18-68 to complete an online diary for five weeks. The women were asked to document their hair removal habits and their sex lives.
At the end of the five-week period, Debra and her researchers were able to see a strong correlation between bikini line hair removal and sexual activity.
Does waxing or shaving have an impact on the quality of your sex life?
The findings revealed that over the course of five weeks, a whopping 42.5 per cent of the women surveyed used no method of hair removal and instead opted for the natural look. However 29.6 per cent of women admitted to shaving or waxing the area at least once or twice.
When it comes to methods of hair removal, shaving came out on top with the vast majority of women turning to their trusty razor 97 per cent of the time over the five-week period. Waxing wasn’t as popular, as only some of the women said that they waxed the area two per cent of the time during the length of the study.
Researchers were able to see the direct impact that this hair removal had on the women’s sex lives because the majority noted in their diaries that on the days they waxed or shaved they were more likely to have sex with a casual partner. They also admitted that they had a greater interest in sex and that they had vaginal intercourse for much longer.
