It was a simpler time.
The ’80s and ’90s were undoubtedly the best decades for classic TV shows. In those 20 short years shows like Friends, Saved by the Bell and The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air graced our screens.
With these series came some pretty iconic female characters. Growing up we wanted to be like them, dress like them, talk like them, and, a lot of the time, date their boyfriends.
Here’s the top five I was slightly completely obsessed with.
1. Rachel Green
Not only were we all obsessed with the Ross and Rachel’s “will they, won’t they?” saga throughout the ’90s, we also kind of loved Rachel all on her own. Miss Green was the ultimate ’90s girl. From her flawless outfits to the famous ‘Rachel’ haircut that everyone scrambled to get, Rachel was the epitome of ’90s cool. Plus she wasn’t afraid to look like an idiot, which makes us love her even more.

2. Kelly Kapowski
The queen of ’90s fashion. Kelly Kapowski taught us a lot about clothes growing up. She was never without her trusty scrunchie, and somehow managed to make mum jeans and braces cool. Kelly gave us all the hair goals, and her relationship with Zack had us green with envy.

3. Ashley Banks
Possibly the best of all the Banks. Will’s little cousin Ashley was one of the best characters in the whole show. She wasn’t spoilt like Hillary, she could dance better than Carlton, and the girl could really sing. Plus we wish we had the chance to hang out with Will Smith all the time.

4. Buffy Summers
Buffy was the perfect ’90s badass. Even when she was fighting demons, vampires, and all sorts of supernatural folk she still managed to be bloody hilarious. She was sassy beyond her years and always really independent. We still can’t get over the trauma of her and Angel’s relationship though.
5. Sabrina Spellman
Who wouldn’t want to be Sabrina Spellman? Not only was she a teenage witch (possibly the coolest thing ever!), but she also had some amazing outfits, AND got to date the mega babe that was Harvey Kinkle. Some girls have it all.
I honestly can’t tell you the amount of times I attempted to cast a spell with my finger. Needless to say, I’m still working on it.
