The three things you should never EVER share on your social media accounts

Cathy Donohue

One is obvious, the other two not as much.

There are three things that should never be shared on social media. Under no circumstances, ever.

According to a study entitled Teens, Social Media and Privacy featured on the Pew Research Centre, people, particularly teenagers, are sharing a wide range of information about themselves on social media.

In particular, three things have been highlighted as items that should never be shared on social media.

Spotted on TIME, the first, and this one is self-explanatory to be fair, is that your pay slip shouldn’t be put on any of your social media accounts.

If you want to avoid identity theft, fraud and other nightmarish situations, then keep your payslip away from Facebook and the likes.

Social Networking Sites May Be Monitored By Security Services

The second thing and this is something you may not have thought of before.

Sharing information from your holiday isn’t wise, particularly if you say how long you’re going for and your destination, etc.

It might sound a bit far-fetched, but burglars can use this to figure out when your home will be empty with geo-tagging also giving extra information about where your home is located etc.

The third and final thing is to never share a photo of your driver’s license or passport.

Again, this includes personal information, such as your date of birth, that can potentially result in identity theft.
