Flatley performed Lord of the Dance for the last time, marking the end of a career that has seen him travel across countries and continents over the past two decades with the hugely popular shows.
The show has been seen by over 50 million people and has proven to be a smash hit worldwide.
“I don’t want to continue to dance past the point where I can’t deliver properly,” he said, explaining his decision to call time on his career.
“There is an appropriate time for a dancer to step down and that has to be now for me,” the 56-year-old added.
“I’m taking a nudge from my body, my knees have taken a beating over the years.”
