This year’s BAFTA television nominations have been revealed and The Girl is leading the way.
The drama, which is about the relationship between filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock and actress Tippi Hedren, earned four nods altogether including a Leading Actress one for Sienna Miller.
But she will have a fight on her hands in the form of Anne Reid (Last Tango in Halifax), Rebecca Hall (Parade’s End) and Sheridan Smith (Mrs Biggs).
Sienna Miller has received a nod for her portrayal of Tippi Hedren.
Miller’s The Girl co-star Toby Jones is up against Ben Whishaw (Richard II), Derek Jacobi (Last Tango in Halifax) and Sean Bean (Accused) for the Leading Actor title.
But that’s enough about the stars, the shows up for Best Drama include Last Tango in Halifax and Ripper Street along with Silk as well as Scott and Bailey.
Further afield The Bridge, Game of Thrones, Girls and Homeland will be battling it out for the International title while Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Shameless will all be hoping to bag the BAFTA for Soap & Continuing Drama.
As usual Ant & Dec are among the nominees.
One of the most hotly-contested categories of the night has to be for the best Entertainment Performance which sees Ant & Dec go up against Alan Carr, Graham Norton and Sarah Millican.
The Radio Times Audience Award, which is voted for by the public, will be fought out by Call The Midwife, Game of Thrones, The Great British Bake Off, Homeland, The London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony and Strictly Come Dancing.
