The Battle Of The Christmas Sweets Begins…

Do you agree with number one?

Cathy Donohue

Christmas will be here before we know it and you can bet that there’s more than a few households debating which sweets are the best on the market.

You can’t beat the Malteser Celebrations, we’re still not over the fact that Roses discontinued the Caramel Velvet sweet, Quality Street are an old favourite and there’s a lot to be said for Cadbury’s Heroes.

Tesco Ireland compiled the results of sweet sales from September 1st to November 30th, check them out below.

1st – Roses

The Cadbury’s Roses 753g tub came first with 29.3% of sales.

2nd – Quality Street

The Quality Street 780g was a close second with 29.1%.

3rd – Celebrations

The Celebrations 750g tub came in third at 20.6% of sales.

4th – Heroes

In fourth place, we have the Cadbury Heroes 760g tub at 15%.

Tesco Ireland’s confectionery buyer Fiona Whelan said “There are still two and a half weeks to Christmas so the showdown between Roses or Quality Street as Ireland’s festive favourite is still to play for but after the first few weeks of festive chocolate sales Roses is just in the lead by 0.20%.”

After writing this, we’re just going to have to go and sample them all again…
