Thanks Dad – Nine Lessons We’ve Learned From Our Dads

He's so wise.

Sue Murphy

They’ve always around for the important moments in our lives and we have to say that even though our Mams were always there for us, our Dads were always pretty good with the lessons and the advice. Here are nine lessons we learned from our Dads.

1. There is always time for tea.

There is always time to turn on the kettle, have a chat and sit down for a cuppa.

2. Quiet time for reading.

This is a newspaper, it is considered a sound barrier. You will not be able to hear anything through this. Therefore, this is the quiet time.

3. Always look out for your family.

Blood is thicker than water! They will always be there.

4. Practice makes perfect.

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again. Dads love that one!

5. Always try your best.

We’re pretty sure every Dad has said that he can never ask for more as long as you have done your best.

6. Money doesn’t grow on trees.

It really, really doesn’t. You have to work for it. This is another fact that Dad likes to throw out every now and again.

7. If all else fails, call Dad.

Even when you have tried absolutely everything, you know that your Dad is still going to be there to help you in the end.

8. Give it time.

Like Guns n’ Roses once said, just try a little patience. Things will all work out in the end.

9. It’s perfectly fine to change your mind.

If things are not working out, change them. This is the best piece of advice your Dad could ever give.
