"Kids, we're going away for the day and we're leaving you at your grandparents' house." The words that were literally music to our ears. Nothing was better than a visit to the grandparent's house. Here is why...
1. "Nana, Mam says I have to eat chocolate at pretty much every meal."
Grand so love, here you go. Seven Easter eggs.
2. "Grandad, Dad totally lets me use the computer whenever I want."
Does he? You better turn it on so.

3. "Bed time is at midnight. Honestly."
Sure, we were falling asleep on the couch, but the point is, we won this round Parents.
4. "No, my Mam said I was allowed to watch that film."
"Where did you watch that scary film that won't let you sleep?!"
(wailing) "Nana and Granda's!"
5. "I'm totally allowed to go over to Mary's house. Mam said it was fine."
Your mother despises Mary. More than any mother should hate someone else's child. Apparently, she's a bad influence.
6. "We always get hot chocolate before bed."
Those chocolate lies are beginning to add up.
7. "No, my Mam said I could totally wear this tomorrow."
A mini skirt with a short top and no jacket? Cannot believe we got away with that one.
8. "Aw thanks Grandad, you're too nice."
This usually was uttered after they told you that you're amazing for joining NASA. You mean the fan club, they thought it was actually NASA.
9. "Thanks so much for all the money, Nana. I promise I'll buy a book."
No. That will be more chocolate.
10. "Tell us a story!"
How come our grandparents were so much better with the stories?

‘I’m a 35-year-old in HR, earning €26k, and this was my biggest financial mistake’
I’m a 35-year-old in HR, earning €26k, and this was my biggest financial mistake Let’s be honest, most of us are at least a little bit nosy when it comes to money. We want to know what other people are earning, how they’re actually getting by, and what their spending really looks like (not the […]
