Thank you NASA! Yes it’s true; we’ve finally reached this stage in our lives where it seems that printing food will be possible and we’ll no longer have to pop down to the shops for a nibble.
No longer will we have to wait in queues in the shops getting increasingly more frustrated at those fumbling for change. Well that is until they decide to sell the machine to the public rather than just building it for astronauts in space...
But seriously, this is quite the step-forward in the technology world. NASA has teamed up with Anjan Contractor of Texas-based Systems and Materials Research to develop a 3D printer that aims to print real food for the company’s astronauts in space that will be "nutritious and flavourful".
The food printer is still in its conceptual stages and doesn't actually exist yet but the company hopes to develop it by the end of the year using NASA's $125,000 grant money.
