It is the day Apple fans and tech enthusiasts have been waiting for (since this time last year), the Apple launch has finally happened and here are how things panned out.
Our lovely brothers over at JOE.ie were live blogging the entire event as it happened.
So what’s the buzz behind thee iPhone 6 and is the Apple Watch really as amazing as you’d expect, the answer to that of course is, YES!
This is what you need to know…
5.55pm: Hey everyone, the big show gets underway in just five minutes time at the Flint Centre in California, the location where Steve Jobs launched the Mac 30 years ago. 5.59pm: We are almost set to go, excitement levels are reaching fever pitch. What you got, Apple? Good start by Zach Braff…

6.08pm: Tim Cook – “I couldn’t be more excited and more proud to show it to you now” Cue dramatic swooshing video.
6:10pm: Two different sizes. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
6.12pm: The sizes – 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. Paul Schiller – “Boy, are they packed with pixels.”
6.18pm: These phones are thin thin – 6.9mm on the iPhone 6, 7.1mm on the iPhone 6 Plus. The thinnest phones Apple have ever created. Double tap the TouchID button on the iPhone 6 Plus and the display slides down so you can use it one-handed.
6.20pm: Apple announce a new generation 64-bit chip, the A8, with double the number of transistors. Graphics will be 50% faster. That’s a jump. They also threw in that it’s 50 times faster than the original iPhone, we should hope so.
6.26pm: Check out the comparisons on the battery life (in hours)…
6.30pm: Faster wifi in both products confirmed. You’ll be able to use wifi for calling, which will jump seamlessly when you jump over to mobile data. Pretty cool.
Camera news! – The new camera has 8 megapixels. That’s a bit underwhelming but it does focus twice as fast so that’s something.
6.35pm: Big advancement in video. Video now up to 60 FPS (1080p).
Slow-mo video captures at 240 frames per second which is going to be great, pity it wasn’t here for the Ice Bucket Challenge frenzy last month.
6.41pm: Price – $199 to $399 for an iPhone 6, with a two-year contract. 64GB iPhone 6 for $299. The iPhone 6 starts at $199 for a 32GB model. A 64GB model is $299 and a 128GB model is $399. The iPhone 6 Plus goes from $299 to $499, again with contract.
6.42pm: When can you get your hands on it? Well, they ship to nine countries on September 19. Pre orders start Friday. The 5S, 5C and original iPhone 5 will still be on sale.
6.45pm: You can download iOS8 on September 17, two days before the new phones go on sale.

6.50pm: ApplePay is a payment system that uses NFC so you can pay for transactions using your phone. Would you be comfortable allowing your credit card or debit card information on your phone like that? Well we won’t have to worry about it for a while because they’re initially rolling it out in the US with no European date confirmed just yet. ApplePay available in the States next month.
6.59pm: The Apple Watch is alive, people, it’s alive!
7.01pm: Tim Cook – “What we didn’t do was take the iPhone, shrink the user interface and strap it on your wrist.” There’s a dial on the Apple watch that allows you to zoom in or out of a map, or scroll up and down a list. Press the crown to go back to the home screen.
7.15pm: No wireless charging for the Apple Watch, inductive charging. Sad face. Six different straps that you slot in instead of the traditional unclasping.
Three different editions — the sport, and the Apple edition (Gold) and the regular version.
7.24pm: The Apple Watch connects to your iTunes and the guy doing the demonstration decided to play a Coldplay song, there are other artists.
New emojis that you can customise yourself are available which we’re sure will increase sale by at least 54% (we’re not joking).
7.30pm: One of our favourite features – A maps app tells you to turn left and right by tapping you on the wrist so you won’t have to stop and look like a tourist when you go to a new city. Also, you’ll be alerted of notifications from text messages, Facebook, Twitter etc by a tap on your wrist which is pretty cool.
7.35pm: Health feature is divided in two with a Fitness app and a workout app — the Fitness app will track you through the day, the workout app will be for targeted bursts.
7.40pm: Apple Watch requires the iPhone to work but it’s compatible with iPhone 5, 5s, 5c.
7.42pm: Price – $349. Available – Early 2015.
7.43pm: The big one – ApplePay works with AppleWatch.
7.45pm: A not-so-surprise performance from U2 to wrap up the show. They were there when the U2 iPod was launched back in 2005.
Great to see Bono and the lads back.

7.55pm: U2’s new album ‘Age of Innocence’ has been given away to everyone on iTunes including you. Yes, we all have it, do we want it? Meh, but we have it. The biggest album release ever. That’s all folks.
