The top fears have been revealed.

When it comes to sex, people have different opinions on it.

While most people see it as very natural and a part of life, some others see it as unnecessary and can cause them stress and anxiety. Reasons for this stress can be caused by insecurities, potential consequences and embarrassment.

A new survey, conducted by Superdrug Online Doctor, has revealed the top sex fears people have and the common concerns among both genders.

The top concern for people surveyed tended to be about contracting an STI from their partner. Other concerns were about unwanted pregnancies, their partner not finding them attractive, orgasms, awkwardness, body hair and an embarrassing bodily function happening during sex.

Here is the breakdown of fears:

The fears have been broken down further between the various answers given by men and women.

Men cited concerns about STIs as their main worry about sex, followed by their partner not having an orgasm and that the condom would break. They also included concerns over premature ejaculation and whether their partner would find them attractive.

For women then, their main concern would be that their partner wouldn’t want to wear a condom, with the next two reasons being that the partner has an STI or that the condom would break during sex.

Also included in the list of concerns are about being attractive, satisfying their partner and being able to say ‘no’.

While the survey revealed information about 2000 people, Superdrug are encouraging everyone to look at sex in a positive and healthy way and not to be embarrassed. They said:

“Sex should be a positive and healthy experience for all involved – and an experience that involves open communication between partners about sexual health, contraception, boundaries, and other important topics. Don’t let embarrassment get in the way of discussing important issues or taking care of your sexual health issues.”
