Some argue that Chrimbo festivities start the day after Halloween, others say the 1st December - but one thing no one argues about, is whether or not to watch the Late Late Toy Show.
This is a tradition that is NOT messed with on the Emerald Isle, and most people will agree that seeing Ryan don his Christmas jumper means it's officially Christmas.
More then 1,000 Irish adults were interviewed by One4All to find out what makes us truly happy at Christmas time.
While a whopping 83 per cent of people said Christmas was the happiest time of year, it was all in the detail when it comes to traditions.
Eighty-nine per cent of people said they like to stick to the same Christmas traditions year in year out, and the Late Late Toy show topped the polls as the best-loved tradition no matter what age, followed closely by listening to Christmas FM.
According to the poll, it's all about the build up, with 40 per cent of Irish people voting Christmas Eve as the stage they feel most happy, followed by Christmas Day which got 27 per cent of the vote.
And it looks like we're a generous bunch, with 36 per cent of people saying watching others open presents on Christmas Day makes them happier than eating Christmas Dinner (19 per cent).
Ahh, bless our souls.
