Stephanie Hughes was allegedly sent home on her first day of high school because of the outfit she was wearing.
According to reports, Stephanie’s school took issue with the fact that the teenager’s collarbone was on display.
Her mother Stacie was so infuriated that she shared a photo of the Kentucky teenager’s outfit on Facebook with the caption: “So this is my daughter at school today.
“I had to come to the school because according to her school principal what she is wearing is out of dress code and inappropriate for school”.

Woodford County High School’s dress code states that “rounded crewneck shirts are to be worn by all students.
“The only exception is when they wear a button down shirt which may only have the top button down”.
“Scoop neck, V neck and tank tops are prohibited unless worn with a crew neck t-shirt”.
Stacie was called to the school and brought her daughter a scarf to wear but Stephanie was then told she wasn’t tying the scarf in the correct manner and was sent home.
Writing on Facebook, Stacie said: “Woodford County High School and the principal have been enforcing a dress code where girls can not show even their collar bones because it may distract their male class mates”.
“This is ridiculous! Parents are being called away from their important jobs and students are missing important class time because they are showing their collarbones! Something needs to change!”
The current dress code has been in place for the past ten years and after feedback from students, prinicpal Rob Akers said he will revise the code.
Principal Akers is considering a change to the current dress code
However, changes may not be implemented until 2016 and in the meantime, Stacie and other parents have started a petition to ensure the code is changed.
