Being responsible for Christmas dinner is unbelievably stressful and if you’re stressing about dry turkeys and bad sides, you’re not the only one.

Many people will embark on their first Christmas dinner at the ripe old age of 24 but won’t perfect the meal for almost a decade.

According to the supermarket brand Asda, men and women over the age of 36 don’t have any excuse to serve up dry turkey!

Meanwhile, 51 per cent of us find timing the most difficult part of cooking the Crimbo dinner and we struggle with serving up everyone’s dinners on time.

Over a third of us stress about whether or not our meat is thoroughly cooked while 18 per cent admit that they bought their turkey without measuring their oven first.

Kitchen timing is the aspect Christmas cooks most fear

Most of those surveyed revealed that their mother was their biggest influence in the kitchen and a smart ten per cent said that they would never even attempt to make dinner because of the stress involved.

The festive findings also revealed that TV chefs inspire nearly half of us to change the way in which we prepare Christmas dinner, which we scoff down in an average of 30 mintues and 44 seconds.

Jim Viggars, Asda’s head of meat quality said: “The highlight of many people’s Christmas day is the food. But cooking the Christmas dinner shouldn’t give you beef.

“The trick to avoid stuffing up is plenty of preparation. Use the days and weeks ahead of the 25th December to perfect each individual part, so you’re not panicking on the day. And if it doesn’t go to plan on the big day don’t worry, there’s always next year!”

Phew! The Her.ie girls are relieved that we have a few more years to perfect that daunting bird. However our tummies are rumbling for Christmas dinner already!
