Ten texts, three emails, five Facebook posts and three tweets. Along with two hours spent online researching outfits, destinations and even the weather, of course.
That is what goes into planning a Saturday night out for the average woman, according to a new survey carried out by New Look.
The poll of 2,000 women by the high street favourite found that most of us don’t trust our own opinions when it comes to outfits, with three quarters of respondents saying they with their friends prior to the night out to find out what they are planning to wear.
New Look commissioned the study after finding an uplift of sales of ‘going out’ clothes from Tuesday onwards, and a spokesperson for the chain said; ”It’s only natural that young women look forward to their weekends and plan nights out with military precision.
”Working and studying hard all week can really take its toll so it’s refreshing that young adults and females in particular are so enthusiastic about socialising with friends.
Well that’s a stance we can get behind…
How do I look? Women start shopping for Saturday night from Tuesday onwards…
The study also found that nearly two thirds of women actually enjoy the getting ready part of a night out more than any other aspect, with 60% saying they loved experimenting with fashion (read: trying on ten outfits before deciding), while two thirds said it was because you can chat better when getting ready.
On the actual night, the average woman starts getting ready at 5.50pm and dedicates two hours to preening and perfecting her look. No doubt with a pre-drink or two along the way…
Three quarters of girls claim to live for the weekend and admit to spending the week counting down the days until Friday evening arrives. Now, how long until Saturday night – and what are you wearing?
