This video just goes to show that children can be absolutely amazing sometimes. We’ll admit that we got a little teary-eyed watching this one. Tissues at the ready!
Jared Stevens is a 12-year-old boy who has cerebral palsy. Despite his condition, Jared always dreamed of taking part in a wrestling match.
“He asked the coach if he could get on the mat. So that’s when we asked the coach, ‘What do we have to do to make that happen?” said Jared’s dad, Phil.
Jared’s dad and a wrestling coach decided to make Jared’s dream come true, and Jared started practicing like mad for his big day.
At the next wrestling match the pair went to, Jared’s dad and coach approached the coach from the opposing team.
“He called me over to the side and said he really wanted to get Jared on the mat today and asked me if I had a kid who understood, knows what the world is really like and had a big heart,” said Coach Randy Stevens.
Coach Stevens knew exactly the boy and nominated Justin Kievet to take part in the match with Jared.
Seeing how important the match was for Jared, 12-year-old Justin happily threw the match without being asked specifically to do so.
“I didn’t know what to do. I went over to wrestle him and shook his hand and I noticed he couldn’t move, so I sat on the man and pulled him over me and slid under him,” said Justin.
What an epic display of sportsmanship, huh?
