Ah Facebook stalking, it feels so wrong yet so right at the same time. However did you know that your addiction to having and auld creep could become pretty hard to break? This is mainly because most of the time we spend online is used to check out social networking websites.
According to a new infographic, 18 per cent of the time we spend online is wasted creeping around on Twitter or Facebook. Unsurprisingly, since 2006 the amount of time that we’ve spent on social networking websites has more than doubled and more and more of us are getting sucked in to the social networking bubble.
On average, we waste 6.9 hours of our life on Facebook every single month. In comparison, we only spend around an hour on other sites like Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+.
The infographic, which was put together by Socially Aware, seeks to understand our social media habits and highlights just how much of our life we’re wasting by being glued to Facebook for the latest status updates from our friends.
Is your life ruled by social media?
Unsurprisingly, when it comes to internet use more of us are spending time watching our favourite shows online rather than watching them on conventional telly.
In 2006, the average person spent 6.3 hours per month watching shows online. However, last year we spent a whopping 23.1 hours per month glued to our computer screens.
Oh and 61 per cent of us have the tendency to surf the internet as we watch television programmes at the same time. Talk about multitasking!
On average, how much time do you spend on social networking sites every single day? Do you think it’s time we all calmed down and unplugged from Facebook for a while?
