Snowmanning is the newest Christmas dating trend and it sounds absolutely brutal

Snowmanning is the newest Christmas dating trend and it sounds absolutely brutal.

We’ve seen bread crumbing, benching, freckling, r-bombing and fishing cause heartbreak throughout the dating world.

And just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, it turns out there’s a new trend that singletons need to keep an eye out for – and its based around Christmastime.

‘Snowmanning’, according to Metrois when the spark in your festive fling melts away after the holidays have ended – aka: when people return to their day-to-day lives.

Couple dating and looking at something on a cellphone.

The term was named by dating agency eharmony, who conducted research that found 53 per cent of people in the UK who have a festive fling will see it come to an end once the holiday season is over.

“Christmas is a time for celebration and presents a great opportunity to socialise and find someone special. However, once the drinks stop flowing and decorations come down, sometimes that initial burst of chemistry wears off,” Rachael Lloyd, Relationship Expert at eharmony said.

“Our research shows that lots of people then retreat from their new relationships, a trend we are coining ‘snowmanning’. For those seeking meaningful connections, I’d suggest considering how compatible you are before launching into a Christmas cracker of a fling. That way you’ll avoid hopefully getting burnt.”
