You thought you’d have to wait ’til Christmas.
Oh the weather outside is frightful…. And it’s not going to get much better.
We’re just getting over Storm Barney that left a trail of destruction in its wake this week, and now it sounds like we’re going to have get ourselves ready for snow.
According to forecasts for the weekend (yes, typical, it has to come at a weekend), wintry showers are predicted, particularly in northern counties, with sleet and snow expected on Saturday as temperatures plummet.
If you’re lucky to escape snow then be warned, extremely frosty and icy conditions are also being forecast – so take extra care on the roads.
“Cold on Friday night with further showers and some will be wintry, especially in Ulster and north Connacht and on higher ground elsewhere,” states Met Éireann.
“A blustery northwest to north breeze but still temperatures falling to around zero with a sharp frost and the danger of icy patches on roads.”
And it doesn’t get much better for Saturday.
“A cold and breezy day, with wintry showers… Cloud will thicken in the west some showery rain or sleet will develop there during the day.
“Cold on Saturday night with frost developing and becoming sharp or severe in some midland and eastern areas as winds fall of light.”
After all that you will be glad to hear that Sunday will be bright with lighter breezes (but still cold), with frost developing overnight.
Great. Just great.
