Gobble, gobble gobble. A new survey has shown that the average person doesn’t take their time when it comes to eating their dinner.
After slaving over a hot stove for an average of 30 minutes, we wolf down our supper in a speedy 11 minutes, only to spend another quarter of an hour washing up.

The research also revealed that we spend more than an hour a week scanning supermarket shelves for suitable grub and 25 per cent of us admit to chowing down in front of the telly instead of sitting at the table with our partner.
Formerly a romantic gesture, we rarely cook dinner for a date anymore and surprisingly one in ten of us eat dinner separately to our partners every night of the week.
Charlie Bigham, the founder of Bigham’s range of ready meals, which commissioned the study revealed: “It is astonishing couples spend so much valuable time cooking their evening meal but so little time enjoying it with loved ones.”
