If you have any plans tomorrow evening, Monday August 12th, cancel them. You need to spend the evening just staring at the sky.
Astronomy experts have predicted that the skies will shimmer with a “natural firework display” tomorrow night as a meteor shower crosses the Earth’s atmosphere, according to the Irish Times.
The British Royal Astronomical Society have stated that this year’s showing of the annual Perseids meteor shower will be better than most and could mean up to 60 shooting stars an hour.

“It’s all about encouraging people to simply look up with their own eyes and marvel,” Val Dunne, vice-president of The Irish Astronomical Society, told the Irish Independent.
“At the moment, the weather reports look favourable. We currently only have a three to four-day moon, so that shouldn’t impede viewing and cloud cover doesn’t look like it will be bad either,”
Meteor expert John Flannery also told the paper: “The best way to see the meteors would be to look to the north-eastern sky. Even if it is cloudy on Monday night/Tuesday morning, remaining patient for half an hour should give enough time for people to really appreciate the shower.”
The shower is a result of material falling from the tail of the Comet Swift-Tuttle which last passed the Earth in 1992.

I’m a 35-year-old in HR, earning €26k, and this was my biggest financial mistake Let’s be honest, most of us are at least a little bit nosy when it comes to money. We want to know what other people are earning, how they’re actually getting by, and what their spending really looks like (not the […]
