Six-Year-Old Delivers Baby Sister After Watching Casualty on Telly

A six-year-old has successfully helped her mammy to deliver her baby sister. How did she do it? Well, she's a big fan of casualty, apparently...

We’re not sure we would have been able to hack this type of drama when we were only six years old, so we have to hand it to Francesca Goodby. She’s a regular little heroine.

Digital Spy reports that the six-year-old delivered her baby sister when her mam went into labour at the family home. Yes, a six-year-old delivered a baby. Mental or what?

Apparently Francesca recognised that her mammy were going into labour because she had seen a woman giving birth before on the popular medical drama series Casualty.

While Francesca’s dad was downstairs calling an ambulance, the six-year-old was upstairs in the bathroom helping her mother through childbirth.

“I was so impressed with Francesca. She was remarkably cool and collected for a six-year old,” said Francesca’s mammy, Kay.

“She had gone to bed but woke up when I started screaming. She was keeping me calm and telling me where to put my hands and telling me to keep breathing… I was really surprised that she knew what to do and was so calm,” she added.

After 12 minutes of pushing, Kay gave birth to Francesca’s baby sister Roisin, who weighed 6lbs 8oz.

The child told reporters that she was a huge fan of hospital drama Casualty

“I didn’t want the cord to be wrapped around her neck, because she might have died, and I held her when she was born to keep her safe,” said little Francesca, after the incident.

“I don’t know how I knew about it, but I do watch Casualty and like it a lot,” she added.

We think a career in midwifery awaits this calm little kid in the future…
