Being April first, we were guaranteed to see a ridiculous amount of pranks, jokes and false stories hitting the Internet head on.
The majority of people feel the April Fool’s slump after a few hours and either loathe or love the day, so before the jokes run their course, here are some of the best pranks from across the globe.
1. Dominos introduces an edible pizza box made from a pizza base
One that we really wish was real – Dominos broke the “news” that they’re to launch a completely edible pizza box made from an actual pizza base.
“Domino’s Pizza today unveiled the world’s first edible pizza box, proving once and for all, that you can have your box and eat it too!” reads the Dominos statement.
“Dubbed the ‘Edibox’, pizza lovers will be able to tuck in to the latest mealtime innovation nationwide from Tuesday, 1st April, 2014”.
2. Reddit presents Headdit
Though they claim that this isn’t an April Fool’s, we remain sceptical. Today Reddit announced Headdit, a “revolutionary” new way to browse the site using your head motions – there’s even a “cat mode”.
(We really wish there was actually a cat mode.)
3. George Hook becomes the Irish Ambassador to the US – Newstalk
Speaking to Ivan Yates from his hotel in New York, George expressed his “surprise” at the appointment.
“These are normally diplomatic appointments and reserved for members for members of the diplomatic core, but I understand that An Taoiseach wanted someone who was recognisable to take place in events such as The Undocumented and Saint Patrick’s Day parade”.
4. Katie Hopkins got her own “Talking Head”
SOLD! The folks at Firebox came up with this rather interesting new product… Its description reads:

- Get a fame-hungry simpleton’s view on the world
- Perfect for starting long and pointless arguments
- Whatever you say, she’ll be against it!
5. Bacon Cabbage Pizza?!
Probably another one that we kind-of wish was real. Supermac’s & Papa John’s have “created” an innovative bacon and cabbage pizza.

6. Hailo launch tandem bike service
Hailo Ireland joined the mix with a rather interesting new “service” but on tandem bikes!
“All of Hailo’s tandem taxis will be ridden by fully licensed taxi drivers. As well as knowing all streets within a radius of 5 miles of O’Connell Street, Hailo’s Tandem fleet are required to know all the cycle paths, all the bike shops and how to deal with chafing of the thigh.” Plus, apparently if you pedal with them you get 50% off the fare!
