We all know that being single can have some amazing perks – more girly nights out, less bikini waxing and, most importantly, loads of spare time which you can use to make yourself happy. But despite all of these perks, a new survey has revealed that only one in 10 of us are actually happy flying solo.
A new happiness study, which was conducted by dating website Parship, has revealed that only a tenth of singletons are ‘very happy’ with their solo status. It begs the question: are we all that desperate to be in a relationship?
As part of the survey, over 1,500 singletons were asked how happy they were with their current relationship status. While only 10 per cent claimed to be ‘very happy,’ 31 per cent said they were ‘neither happy nor unhappy’ and 28 per cent admitted that they were feeling ‘reasonably unhappy’ about their love lives.
The survey findings seem to suggest that most of us would be happier if we were coupled up
So what the hell is going on? According to Markus Fischer, a spokesman for Parship, these results just go to show that despite stereotypes and common misconceptions, the vast majority of us would be much happier if we were loved up with another person.
“Just one in ten singletons are actually happy with their single status, with the majority being men; quashing the suggestion that bachelors enjoy being unattached!” said Mr Fischer.
“At the end of the day, almost everyone out there would be unable to deny that they’d be happiest with a companion who’s right for them; and it seems the single life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be,” he added.
