We all know that when it comes to sex, it’s essential to look afer yourself. We live in a world where we’re continually warned about the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. With more cases than ever, it’s important that we protect ourselves.
In order to hammer the message of safe sex home even more, Lloyds Pharmacy has created an online calculator with a twist: it shows you how many people you’ve have sex with directly and indirectly.
We’re not going to lie, the results can be shocking and will cause you to seriously reexamine your attitudes to sex and keeping yourself safe.
The Sex Degrees of Separation Calulator asks users to put in their age, gender, the number of people they’ve slept with and the age and gender of each sexual partner they’ve had.
The calculator asks for information about your sex life
The calculator works by plugging into a database that works out (on average) how many previous sexual partners people within that age range have had. It then repeats the process for five more ‘generations’ of partner. When this number is added, you recieve your sex degrees of separation total.
Health experts are hailing the calculator as a tool that can help to explain why STDs are on the rise right now and just why they’re affecting younger people moreso than older age brackets.
It is hoped that seeing the figure of all the people they have indirectly slept with will encourage young adults to educate themselves about the dangers of unprotected sex and STDs.
