It’s one of the most vibrant, cosmopolitan and fashionable cities in the world, but one of the very best things about London is the fact that you can get there in less than the time it takes to have a decent nap. Her.ie recently visited our neighbours’ capital city for a girlie weekend of gigs, shows, shopping and catch-up cocktails. Our base for the weekend was the fabulous Marylebone Hotel. Here’s why you should pay a visit too…

Right In The Heart of the Action
When it comes to a London trip, you probably already know that you need to think Location, Location, Location. And locations don’t come much better than this. The Marylebone is located within a five minute walk from Bond Street Station. You’re in the heart of the fashionable Marylebone Village, but a hop, skip and jump will take you straight to the shopping Mecca of Oxford street. You have a myriad of public transport options, but you’re still within walking distance of some of London’s hottest attractions. Wins all round!
The Lap of Luxury
There is no official star rating publicised for The Marylebone, but make no mistake – this is one classy joint. The plush furnishings and immaculate attention to detail whisper understated elegance and taste. It doesn’t come cheap, but if you want to treat yourself, you might as well really treat yourself. As for the beds? It’s like sleeping on a cloud.
The Irish Connection
There’s every chance you’ll feel right at home straight away, given that the hotel is part of the Doyle Collection, a privately owned group of eight luxury hotels located in the most fashionable neighbourhoods of five major cities around the world: London, Bristol, Dublin, Cork and Washington DC. You won’t find any twee signposts telling you the distance to Killarney, but you may recognise that warm welcome as a homey touch.
The Third Space
On your stay, you’ll have complimentary access to The Third Space, billed as “London’s trendiest health club”. A fully equipped gym, 18m swimming pool, daily fitness classes and spa with a range of treatments from Dr. Murad means that it can be quite difficult to muster up the enthusiasm to leave the hotel and embrace the outside world. It’s just so tempting to stay put.
The Package Deal
Whatever kind of break you’re after, The Marylebone has it covered. Homesick travellers can avail of The Irish Welcome, which includes your Full Irish Breakfast, an Irish cheese board with a glass of Guinness or Irish Coffee/Cocktail in the bar and Irish chocolates on turndown. Early risers will like The Breakfast Club package, while adventurous travellers will love the Discover London package. Of course, you could just stay put and enjoy the Take Time Out package.
Dining in Style
You have two in-house options when it comes to getting a sumptuous bite to eat; 108 Marylebone Lane and Pantry at 108. In either, you’ll find a wide selection of delicious treats. Head Chef, Russell Ford has sourced the finest local ingredients for delicious, seasonal dishes as well as new takes on British classics. Health eaters will also fall head over heels for the extensive list of optins from The Juicery.
The Suite Life
The Marylebone retains a sense of intimacy and a boutique hotel vibe. This is seriously impressive given that the hotel boasts 257 guestrooms including 44 suites, three of which have private terraces. The rooms have absolutely everything you could wish for – expect cloud-like duck down duvets, fluffy towels, flat- screen LCD TVs, iPod dockings stations and Aromatherapy Associates bathroom products. You’ve also got the modern day essential – free high-speed WiFi. The small things make a big difference.
