Adam Armstrong used his imagination when he realised his Ryanair booking was made under the wrong surname.
Knowing that it would cost a pretty penny to change his flight details last minute, the Batman fan decided to change his name by deed poll and save on costs.
The Manchester student was all set to jet off to Ibiza with his girlfriend when he noticed the flights had been booked under the name “Adam West” (the actor that played Batman back in the day).
He told The Sun: “Her stepdad got my name from Facebook but I had put it as Adam West as a joke, because he was the actor who played Batman on TV.”
Although Ryanair offer a 24-hour grace period in which to amend flight details, Adam didn’t spot the mistake in time.
The £110 fee for changing flight details was doubled in this case because the couple had made two separate bookings.
Ryanair explained to the Mirror Online: “A name change fee is charged in order to discourage and prevent unauthorised online travel agents from ‘screenscraping’ Ryanair’s cheapest fares and reselling them on to unwitting consumers at hugely inflated costs.”
However, Adam avoided the costs by changing his name for free by deed poll and paying £103 for a new passport, which resulted in a pretty nifty saving of over £100.
We know who’s footing the cocktail bill in Ibiza!
