Every Irish person is familiar with the common terror of facing an airhostess clad in blue and yellow, a suitcase bursting with holiday goodies held tightly in our hands.
If this wasn’t bad enough, we are wearing about seven layers of clothes in a pathetic effort to trick them into thinking we actually don’t have a huge haul.
However, these well known practices may become a thing of the past as Michael O’Leary is considering charging passengers for their carry-on luggage in a new effort to increase Ryanair’s revenue and profit.
According to The Irish Independent, deputy chief executive Michael Crawley said: “If you don’t charge for something, that service isn’t appreciated.”
“When it was free, 80 per cent of people checked in a bag.”
On average, 35 per cent of Ryanair passengers check in a bag, but free carry-on luggage is one of the only remaining free services offered by the budget airline.

Ryanair have also revealed that high costs at Dublin airport are making it impossible to increase the amount of flights on offer to and from other European capitals.
“Are we going to bring extra people into the country? Unfortunately we’re not. We can’t other than by sitting them on the wing of the aircraft,” he said.
At Her.ie, we can’t complain about Ryanair. From our experience, they get us there on time and on budget.
However, forking out for a carry-on bag just may be pushing it to far.
