Ryan Tubridy Said He Feels At Home On The Late Late Show but It Took a While

The RTE presenter said former hosts Gay Byrne and Pat Kenny have boosted his confidence.

Ryan Tubridy finally feels at home behind the Late Late Show desk after being encouraged by former hosts Pat Kenny and Gay Byrne.

The 2FM radio broadcaster has been presenting the show for three years, but only feels qualified now that the former hosts have given him their blessings at the 50th anniversary celebrations.

Ryan said: “Hosting the 50th, it actually felt like a handover having Gay and Pat there on the show. So it only now feels as if I’m getting my feet under the table. I’ve had to earn my stripes.”

According to TV Now magazine, the RTÉ hosts have nothing but praise for Tubridy.

“I think Ryan is doing really well for a situation where the expectations are very high. I did say to him on Monday morning after the first show, ‘Just pace yourself’.

Gay Byrne also had some nice words to say about 39-year-old Tubridy.

“I think he has all the qualities required, the light deft touch together with a serious mind. I think it’s a great adventure for him.”

Ryan revealed that he is excited about RTÉ’s upcoming season.

“I’m just back from London and now in meetings getting ready for the new season, starting to think about those things called guests.”

Ryan will be heading to Electric Picnic on Sunday with his girlfriend Aiobhinn to present Picnic Brunch, which will be broadcast from the Mindfield Area at the Picnic.
