RTE stars’ wardrobe bill doubled on the previous year.

The station’s entertainment shows ate up the biggest chunk of the budget, with The Late Late Show seeing a spend of €20,689 this year compared to just €9,519 spent in 2013.

The station also clocked up a ten per cent increase in its travel bill since 2013, ringing in at €2,004,000 this year.

A statement released by RTÉ said: “In overall terms RTÉ has reduced its operating cost by almost €130M since 2008. During this period RTÉ has also been subject to extensive independent review; including a review by New Era which found RTÉ to be efficiently run”.
