Last night RTÉ 1 aired a documentary about the iconic rural soap opera Glenroe, that ran from 1983 to 2001 on the national broadcaster.
For many, the programme was a huge part of their childhood from being allowed stay up late enough on a Sunday to watch it, to the theme tune reminding you of all the homework you had yet to do.
Twitter jumped on the nostalgia train in a huge way last night, and it was pretty hilarious.
Boys and girls. Don’t ever ask someone if they have “tiddles” or you could end up preggo. #glenroe pic.twitter.com/gUZkzmruNW

Feeling a bit old with the #Glenroe programme. The worst bit is worrying if I’ve my homework done for school in the morning. — Sinead Ryan (@sinead_ryan) December 27, 2015
For anyone like me, who never had their homework done by 8.30pm on Sunday, the Glenroe music still sends a shiver up the spine. #Glenroe

I was skeptical. But that #Glenroe programme was singularly the BEST piece of Christmas programming…and I’m including you in that #Downton — Anne Marie O’Connor (@Kitsgirl1) December 27, 2015
It seems like there’s an appetite for a reboot of the beloved series out there! Watch this space… Lead Image – RTÉ
