Rosé in a Plastic Glass Shows Up The Dragons of The Den and Wins The Wine Oscars!

The entrepreneurs called the product ‘tacky’ but Le Froglet Rosé has the last laugh.

At Her.ie, we see ourselves as classy birds, but sometimes we can’t resist the lure of cheap bottle of wine.

However, not the entrepreneurs of Dragon’s Den, who refused to invest in Le Froglet Rosé, a product that markets wine in a convenient and portable plastic glass.

Wine connoisseur James Nash pitched his idea to a panel of uninterested dragons, who said Le Froglet Rosé was a novelty product without a future.

Dragon Duncan Bannatyne dismissed the product and said: “This doesn’t work as a selling item. People do not want to buy wine in plastic glasses like that. For that reason, I’m out.”

Oh, how wrong he was!

Soon after appearing on the show, the product was snapped up by gourmet supermarket giant Marks & Spencer to be displayed in its ‘Food on the Move’ section.

The rosé was received well by commuters and picnickers and now has won itself a gong at the international wine ‘Oscars’.

Le Froglet Rosé has been named the Great Value Champion Rosé at the International Wine Challenge and M&S has sold over a quarter of a million individual cups since 2010.

M&S winemaker Belinda Kleinig said: “The fantastic sales of the cup range reinforce that our customers seek the extra convenience that ‘cup-a-wine’ offers.

“The cups have been extremely popular since their launch which shows what good taste our customers have as the wine is in fact award winning.

“This win is great as it shows that even though the wine isn’t in a bottle our customers can be reassured that they will be buying a quality tipple,” she said.
