After months and month of speculation over who would bite the dust, one of the Simpsons characters came to their end in last night’ season finale.
In an episode titled Clown in the Dumps (clue, much?) Rabbi Hyman Krustofski, father of beloved children’s entertainer Krusty the Clown, said goodbye.
Krustofski, who was voiced by comedian Jackie Mason, has appeared in several episodes over the years in connection with his chain-smoking, hard-drinking son Herschel, aka Krusty.
The rabbi’s fate had looked questionable ever since producer Al Jean told Simpsons fans while on a publicity tour last year that a character would be killed off in the season 26 opener. He said; “I’ll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is.”
Comedian Mason won the award in 1992.
Deaths are few and far between in Springfield, but Krustofski now joins the likes of Maude Flanders, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Homer’s mother Mona and teacher Edna Krabappel in the ranks of the town’s dearly departed.
