What would you choose, the perfect wedding day or the perfect wedding or engagement ring?
You might be surprised at the lengths some would go to for their dream engagement or wedding ring. A study has shown that one third of women were “determined” to get the ring they’ve always dreamed of and would do anything to get it.
A survey revealed that a fifth of women said they woud sacrifice the big, expensive wedding for the perfect diamond ring. One in five said they would compromise and promise not to have the big, expensive wedding if it meant they'[d have a better ring.
And it doesn’t stop there…
Ironically enough, the ring could become the catalyst to end your relationship as 10 per cent of couples admitted to arguing during the memorable process of buying the ring.
The poll, carried out by luxury jewellery firm Taylor&Co, also revealed that some women even admitted to throwing a bit of a wobbler after they were popped the question as they wanted a better ring.
So is it all about the memories… or does the price matter?
Fifty-eight per cent of women thought a month’s salary for a ring was too much, but a third thought it was spot on. Interestingly, men’s idea of the perfect price for a ring was almost €250 more than what a woman believed the perfect price to be (€1785).
Kerry Katona shared a photo of her new sparkler with the world on Twitter this week.
”Some men choose an engagement ring themselves to pop the question, but others realise that it can be an expensive mistake if you get it wrong so involve their fiancé in the selection process,” Sara Taylor, founder of Taylor&Co said.
”It’s understandable that some girls have their heart set on a certain style of ring, so it’s easy to see how there can be disputes.
”But it’s important to remember the reason why you are purchasing a ring in the first place.
”It seems a shame if couples are getting to the point where they argue.”
Two thirds of females said the more a man earns the more he should spend, and 23 per cent said that the more a man spends the more he loves you.
Sara Taylor of Taylor&Co added:
”Couples shouldn’t focus too much on the cost of an engagement ring but it’s important you choose a style that suits you and your own taste and that will stand the test of time.
”All being well you will be wearing it for the rest of your life.”
