A man who wrote a cheque he knew would bounce to pay for pizza for his hungry child has returned the money to the restaurant 13 years later.
The customer revealed how he was hard on his luck back in 2002, and was struggling financially, but now that he had earned his money, he wanted to repay his debts.
Reddit user ‘morgan_freemum’ shared the letter they received online, where the customer outlined his reasons and apologised for his actions:
Sharing the story on Reddit, the restaurant owner said he was moved by the actions of the customer, writing:
“I probably forgot about him when I wrote the check off as a loss and never gave him another thought. This poor dude has been dwelling on this for over a decade. If I find out who he is I’m going to have a beer with him, I’m buying.
“The guy didn’t have to do anything, this is a big showing of his character. To include interest was really generous.”
