Recipe: How to Make Your Own Organic Bread

Did you know that making your own homemade organic bread is actually really easy to do?

This easy loaf of white bread is perfect if you want to have something different to serve while entertaining guests.

Here’s our recipe for Honey and Milk White Bread.

Ingredients:

  • 2 sachets of active dry yeast
  • 2-1/2 cups warm Organic for us Milk
  • 1/3 cup Mileeven Organic honey
  • 1/4 cup Connacht Gold Creamery butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 8 cups all-purpose Odlums flour

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C
  2. Warm you milk in a pan on low and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, add your yeast and pour in warm milk.
  4. Add the organic honey, the butter, salt and 5 cups of the flour.
  5. Beat the mixture until smooth, then add the flour until you form a soft dough.
  6. Throw a bit of flour on a level surface or board and knead until smooth and elastic. This could take you up to 8 minutes.Place in a new bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (1 hour).
  7. When it’s risen, split the dough and shape into two loaves.
  8. Place the dough into two greased 9-in. x 5-in. loaf tins.
  9. Cover and let rise again (30 minutes.)Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  10. Remove the bread from the tins and cool on wire racks.
