“Really?” X Factor Finalist Speaks Out About Louis Walsh as a Mentor

Former X Factor star Nicholas McDonald has admitted that he was left “disheartened” by Louis Walsh who was his mentor on the show. The singer, who got into the final last year but was beaten by Sam Bailey, spoke to OK! online at the Sanctum Soho Christmas party earlier this week. Nicholas with his X Factor mentor Louis Walsh. He said: “Louis supported me and he guided me in the right way. He got me where I am today and I’m so grateful for that. “But when we were in the final and he said vote for Sam… I said to myself ‘is he not meant to be my mentor?’ I was a bit disheartened.” The 18-year-old from Scotland added: “Sam Bailey is like Celine Dion. She’s just crazy amazing but it was weird when Louis said vote for Sam. I was a bit like ‘really?’” Last year's finalists Sam Bailey and Nicholas McDonald. Despite that, Nicholas said he has no regrets about taking part in the competition before revealing that he has had a busy year since the show finished. “A year down the line, I brought my first album out, that done really well, got into the top five. I’ve done a UK tour and am just coming on to do my second album [sic].”
