Real life Ken and real life Barbie have already met, and although it wasn’t love at first sight, they didn’t seem to hate each other… until now.
Valeria Lukyanova and Justin Jedlica have both invested heavily in plastic surgery in a bid to become real-life versions of the dolls, but just because they’ve nailed the fantasy life, doesn’t mean they’re friends. Or even close to it.
Jedlica has said the the Breatharianist looked like a “drag queen”, while Valeria was quick to criticise his surgery, saying “he overdid his lips”.
The human Ken doll has called out the Ukranian Barbie model, saying she was “cheating” by enhancing her doll-likeness with make-up, but hasn’t stopped there.
He is now urging his female counterpart to start considering how she can use her ‘celebrity’ status in a positive way.
Speaking out to US Weekly, Jedlica believes Valeria’s lack of personality is all part of her plans to be seen as a plastic doll:
“She was cute and seemed overall sweet. I tried to give her a hug and crack up with her. She wasn’t really having it. If she gives off too much emotion or personality, people aren’t going to associate her with a plastic object. With a dead mannequin. Right?
“You don’t speak, you don’t laugh, there’s no personality. So, why are we giving you the time of day? As an out gay male, as a stepfather of two kids, you kind of start to think … what are you using your celebrity for?”
We wouldn’t be so fast to throw stones in Barbie’s Dream House.
