It’s the end of an era in Today FM as it has just been announced that hit radio presenter Ray D’Arcy will bid farewell to the station that he has worked in for 14 years to return to RTE.
According to reports, the hugely popular presenter – who has been at the forefront of Today FM’s radio programming since 2000 – will now work for RTE across both radio and television.
The news was announced a short time ago by RTE and revealed that Ray will now take over Derek Mooney’s slot on RTE Radio 1, moving from the morning slot on Today FM.
The key show, which airs between 3pm and 4.30pm each day, will see Ray at its helm from January.
This move will mark a return to RTE for Ray who left the national broadcaster in 2000 to take up the role with Today FM. Ray had previously worked with RTE for 13 years, presenting numerous television shows including The Den, Blackboard Jungle and 2Phat to name but a few.
Ray’s wife, Jenny, also left Today FM earlier this year to spend more time with the couple’s children.
The station tweeted a fond farewell to the broadcaster earlier today: “Yes, the news is true. Ray’s leaving the station. We wish him all the best & thank him for the laughter, tears & amazing radio. #raydarcy.”
