A man who claimed he was ‘working up the courage’ to punch a black man in the face for internet fame, has been jailed for six years.
Conrad Barrett made a video documenting the disgusting crime – telling the camera:
“The plan is to see if I hit an elderly black person, would this be televised nationally?”
The graphic video then showed Barrett approaching an elderly man after getting out of his car, asking:
“Hey, how’s it going man? Huh? How you doing?”
He then punched 79-year old Roy Coleman in the face.

Federal prosecutor Ruben Perez from the US Department of Justice released the video, saying:
“The Department of Justice is happy that we were able to get this guy off the street, because he was out there to hurt people. I hope the public would realize what this man did. It’s the callousness the egregious behaviour that he, that this man exhibited against this elderly, defenseless man.”
Barrett’s attack left Mr.Coleman’s haw fractured in two places, with teeth missing.
He was arrested after showing the video of his attack to an off-duty police officer.
Following the racially motivated attack, Coleman’s daughter Donna Mc Neal said that although she was happy to see Barrett jailed for six years:
“It broke my heart to see someone actually hit my father and actually knock him off his feet.”
She added that while her father is doing physically well, he suffers from anxiety following the attack.
