Anyone that has been a victim of theft will know that there is nothing worse than knowing that a complete stranger is in possession of your personal belongings, which is why when Julia Cons has her scarecrow stolen she was positively devastated.
Julia, along with Sister Mary, her beloved Nun scarecrow, entered a competition in Caythorpe, Nottinghamshire.
Media-shy Julia explained the “upset” to the BBC.
“We were really upset to have her stolen and never imagined we would get her back… I think all the media attention obviously made her too hot to handle”, she said.
The Nun scarecrow For those with a little less than 20:20 vision, that sign reads, ‘Cupcake Vicar?’
After taking second place at the competition, Julia placed the scarecrow outside her home for passersby to enjoy, however it didn’t last long and Sister Mary was last seen “with her feet poking out of the back of a car”.
Mary and her large cupcakes were recovered six-miles away in neighbouring town Calverton by superhero/ community support officer.
In case you were wondering, the nun scarecrow didn’t actually take home the winning prize, a scarecrow witch did, we’re guessing it was her ‘Don’t Drink and Fly’ sign that done the trick.
