They say a picture is worth a thousand words and so an artist decided to merge Disney princesses and rape information to create a powerful awareness campaign.
The artist from the Saint Hoax website used familiar Disney characters to highlight the sexual abuse of minors.
In a statement on her website Saint Hoax explained the project: “An awareness campaign targeting minors who have been subject to sexual abuse by a family member. The aim of the poster series is to encourage victims to report their cases in order for the authorities to prevent it from happening again.”
In an email to the Huffington Post, the artist explained that the powerful poster campaign was created after learning that a friend had been raped at a young age by her father.
“As an artist/activist I decided to shed light on that topic again in a new form. I used Disney princess because it’s a visual language that my targeted audience would be attracted to.”
Hat-tip to Jezebel for this one.
