The twentieth anniversary of Princess Diana’s death occurs this year and to mark the occasion, there will be a special holiday held in her honour.

A series of events and initiatives that will recognise Diana’s compassion and kindness have been set up by The Diana Award, a charity established in 1999, dedicated to her memory and her belief in the power of young people to “change the world”.

According to The Express, National Kindness Day will take place in March and it’s all about encouraging people to do something to help others.

In addition to this, The Diana Award wants to celebrate 20 exceptional people who personify Diana’s values and they’re calling for nominations of people, aged 9-18, who have been given the Diana Award in the 2016-17 academic year.

Those nominated will be then considered for an International Legacy Award.

Prince William and Prince Harry have been involved with the charity previously and are expected to work with them again this year, in memory of their late mother.

Princess Diana’s brother Earl Spencer is to hold an exhibition entitled “Walking in Her Shoes” and it’s thought this will honour many of the young people nominated, with the Earl also planning a fundraising gala event.

It’s also thought that Kensington Palace are creating a ‘Diana Memorial Garden’ while also planning an exhibition of her most memorable outfits.
