He may be made of stern stuff when he’s on the side of the football pitch, but Roy Keane has this week proved he’s a bit of a softie at heart.

The Republic of Ireland assistant manager paid a visit to Temple Street Children’s Hospital this week alongside manager Martin O’Neill ahead of their qualifier against Scotland this weekend.

11 June 2015; Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill and assistant manager Roy Keane took time out of their busy preparation for Saturday’s must win qualifier against Scotland to make a very special visit to Temple Street Children’s University Hospital today, where they met brave little patients, along with their parents and staff. The Irish legends made the visit in conjunction with the SportsWorld FAI Summer Soccer Schools, who earlier this year announced Temple Street as their charity of the year. SportsWorld, part of the Heatons department store group, are delighted to be title sponsor of the FAI Summer Soccer Schools. The pair met some extremely brave little patients along with their parents and members of staff and the footballing heroes certainly made dreams come true for young soccer fans.
