Recently we are loving wedding rule breaks.
From bridesmen and groomswomen to alternative venues, it’s now cool to break the rules.
One bride who did just that in an incredibly special way was journalist Emilie Voss, who knew she wanted her 95-year-old grandmother to play an important role in her big day.
Emilie decided to turn the concept of flower girl, traditionally kept for a young child, on its head.
Grandma Alice had the honour of scattering petals down the aisle ahead of her granddaughter in what turned out to be a gorgeous twist on tradition.
Taking to Facebook to pay tribute to her lovely Granny on her 96th birthday, Emilie wrote:
‘HAPPY 96th BIRTHDAY TO MY FLOWER GIRL! I don’t think my Grandma Alice thought we were serious when we asked her to be part of our big day. But she did not disappoint.
She will always be the most graceful, intelligent, and independent woman I know. I’m lucky to have her in my corner.
I know being a flower girl wasn’t what she was expecting at 95, so here’s to another year of fabulous surprises!!’
