Losing a loved one is probably one of the most difficult moments in your life.
As difficult as it is to hear the news, we can’t imagine the feeling a doctor or nurse goes through to break the news to family and friends left behind.
An image shared on Reddit this morning captured the real heartache and poignant moment one doctor faced, when he failed to save his 19-year old patient.
Taken and shared by one of his colleagues, the caption explained:
“The man pictured was unable to save one of his patients.
“Though this is a common occurrence in our field of work, the patients we lose are typically old, sick, or some combination of the two. The patient that died was 19 years old, and for him, it was one of those calls we get sometimes that just hits you.
“Within a few minutes, the doctor stepped back inside, holding his head high again.”

It can be hard to remember that doctors are people too. And that when they put on a coat, it doesn’t mean they can switch off their feelings.
“This is pretty powerful.”
