If you are somehow not moved by this image, you just might have a heart of stone.
One of the biggest days of the year for the GAA, the Camogie All-Ireland Finals took place in Croker on Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately for spectators, the Galway vs. Kilkenny clash never really became the classic game both players and fans would have wanted, but it mattered not at the final whistle.
It’s been heartbreak after heartbreak for the Galway girls since they last claimed victory in the 1996 final, and for team stalwart Therese Maher it may have been the final chance to go for glory.
Maher, who joined the panel in 1997 at 16 years of age, had played in five finals before yesterday’s bout without ever managing to bring home a cup. Yesterday, she finally claimed her long overdue All Ireland medal on the grandest stage of them all.
