An art installment like no other. “Wave” is a gigantic 10-foot-tall wave of Barbie dolls, created by artist Annette Thas.
The unusual sculpture contains several thousand Barbies and was featured at the 10th annual Sculptures by the Sea exhibition in Cottlesoe in Perth.
The blonde Barbie dolls were tied to an aluminium frame in the shape of a wave.
“The Barbies are used to convey messages” Thas says, “That’s why I decided to use blonde Barbie dolls. The sculpture is about genetic modification and the tyranny of the ideal image of beauty”.
